Description
20225 Vintage Berber Moroccan Rug, 03’08 x 07’07.
This hand-knotted wool vintage Berber Moroccan runner features a muted checkerboard pattern framed with a three-sided border composed of diamonds, flanked by a square zigzag band known as the snake. Full of ancient Berber symbolism, the diamond is known to represent femininity and womanhood, as well as predicting a pregnancy. The snake symbolizes potency and the male’s role in reproduction. The neutral colored checkerboard pattern is more organic than static, able to anchor a space but also flow into the rhythm of the design schema surrounding it.
Rendered in variegated shades of beige, sand, tan, almond, champagne, camel, fawn and ecru. Blending primitive charm, ancient symbolism and Folk-Art warmth, this vintage Moroccan rug reflects generations of cultural beliefs. Well-suited for a wide range of interior styles: Tribal, Primitive, Bohemian, Cubism, Mid-Century Modern, Modern, Abstract, Expressionism, Contemporary, Rustic, Lodge, Post-Modern and Children's. Perfect for a wide hall or entry, hallway, corridor, living room, bedroom, master bath, nursery, office, study, suite, foyer and entryway.
