With its simplicity, plush pile and bohemian style, this hand knotted wool vintage Beni M'Guild Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The abrashed field features an all-over diamond lattice pattern composed of smaller concentric lozenges. Imbued with contrasting colors, the rich waves of abrash of painterly-like brush strokes and softly gradated striations run selvage to selvage blending seamlessly from one to the next. It is enclosed with a repeating X-shape geometric border representing the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs.
