21279 Vintage Berber Beni M'Guild Moroccan Rug, 06'11 x 12'03.
Showcasing a bold expressive design, incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool vintage Berber Beni M'Guild Moroccan rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The eye-catching diamond trellis and vibrant colors woven into this vintage Moroccan rug work together creating a truly unique look. The abrashed blue field features an all-over lozenge lattice decorated with concentric diamonds, triangles. eight-point stars, and ambiguous tribal motifs. At one end, a series of chevron bands outline the diamond trellis creating an expansion effect. Historical richness and full of Ancient Berber symbolism, this vintage Beni M'Guild rug features traditional symbols of protection and femininity in the central area while the borders along the vertical sides traditionally represent the male's presence. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs. This presentation can be seen as symbolizing fertility, as well as protection and the sanctuary of the family.
