Description
74570 Vintage Berber Moroccan Rug, 03’08 x 06’05.
The stark shades of yellow, orange and red woven into this piece work together to create a truly unique look. The variegated design pattern conjures the tribal feeling of Moroccan spirit in this vintage Berber Moroccan rug. The design ornamenting the Moroccan rug is layered through to the center, with each portion of the Berber rug displaying a different work of art. The V-shape on the border of the Moroccan rug is highly recognized in ancient Berber culture as a symbol of the open legs of a woman who is ready to conceive. A cross-like symbol composed of the Baraka motifs frame this work of art. The bird symbol is a positive motif that carries baraka - a blessing or sense of divine presence. Baraka can be transferred to symbols and designs that have protective power to ward off the 'evil eye'. The piece is trimmed with light fringe that hangs from one vertical side.
