The weathered field is covered with an all-over Herati pattern. The all-over Herati pattern is among the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. A thin sawtooth border frames the inner composition. It is enclosed with a turtle vine scroll border flanked with an inner and outer Herati guard border and inner and outer boteh guard stripe. Bespeaking age and history, this worn-in distressed antique rug is the perfect complement to interiors with similar richness and rustic vibes including natural wood furnished chalets, estates, cottages, and mountainside abodes as found in Colorado, Lake Tahoe, or the Adirondacks.
