Description
60822 Distressed Antique Persian Mahal Rug Runner, 03'08 x 09'11.
Warm and inviting with rustic sensibility, this hand-knotted wool distressed antique Persian Mahal runner beautifully embodies modern industrial style. The lovingly time-worn field is covered in an all-over geometric Herati design. It is enclosed with a thin botanical meander border flanked with an inner crenelated fence guard band. The Classic Herati pattern, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon’s reflection. With its timeless design and understated elegance, this antique Mahal carpet runner would bring a sense of nostalgic charm to nearly any interior.
