This hand-knotted wool distressed antique Persian Serapi Rug features a large octofoil medallion with oversized palmette pendants floating in the center of an abrashed, latch-hooked brick red field. A variety of geometric floral motifs surround the medallion in an intricate arrangement of palmettes, rectilinear vinery, buds, blooms and rosettes. Serrated corner spandrels echo the designs of the medallion and field. A classic Herati main border with samovar-shaped palmettes, along with graphic floret secondary borders, elegantly frame the composition, pulling together colors from throughout into a unified, harmonious design. With its bold design, warm colors, and lovingly timeworn appearance, this antique Persian Serapi rug would be a wonderful addition to any interior.
