Veiled in a delicate mist of timeworn elegance, this hand-knotted wool antique Persian Mahal rug whispers tales of faded grandeur through its soft, ethereal hues. The antique wash has bestowed upon it a dreamlike patina, where once-vivid colors now glow with a gentle, sun-bleached warmth. Beneath this veil, an intricate allover Herati pattern emerges—a timeless dance of stylized blossoms, lanceolate leaves, and diamonds, weaving together in rhythmic harmony, like ripples across a serene, ancient pond.
The field, though distressed, retains its noble symmetry, punctuated by triangular corner spandrels that anchor the composition. These spandrels, adorned with magnified Herati motifs, are outlined by hooked bands that frame the central design with a subtle strength.
