This hand-knotted wool antique Persian Karabakh rug features double lozenge medallions filled with stylized flowers and rectilinear vines. The lozenge medallions showcase jagged edges and anchored with complementary finials floating in an abrashed cut-out field of burgundy. Complementary spandrels and pyramids filled with stylized flowers and vines reach towards the center. It is framed with a rose bouquet border and flanked with meandering guard borders. This antique Karabakh rug was handmade in the district of Karabakh - part of Azerbaijan, a country in the South Caucasus, just north of the present Iranian border.
