70740 Antique Persian Malayer Runner, 03'03 x 08'03.
This hand-knotted wool antique Malayer runner features an all-over blooming Qashqai style boteh pattern like butterflies atop plant stems. This sumptuous example of Malayer weaving features all desirable signs of age wear including abrash and striated colors. Subdued natural wool hues with bright corner spandrels filled with boteh accents and stepped edges make this Persian hallway carpet runner an elegant beauty. The blooming boteh pattern and spandrels are enclosed with a repeating, stylized Vitruvian scroll known as a running dog border which resembles a wave. The guard borders are replete with alternating poly-chromatic motifs, adding interest and depth.
