The repeating boteh design and traditional color palette woven into this vintage Hamadan rug work together creating a truly sophisticated look. The abrashed beige colored field featuresa concentric lozenge medallion surrounded by an allover boteh pattern. The boteh, characteristic of the paisley pattern originating in Kashmir, is here rendered in a repeat pattern as a geometric pear shape thought to represent a leaf, bush, flame, or pine cone. Hamadan is an important weaving center in northwest Persia.The corner spandrels echo the medallion design. It is finished with a complementary geometric tribal border flanked with an inner meandering guard border.
