Description
73305 Antique Caucasian Lori Kurdish Rug, 04'08 X 10'05.
Earth-tone elegance meets masculine appeal in this antique Caucasian Lori Kurdish rug. The floral design and earthy hues woven into this piece work together creating a warm and inviting ambiance. A small-scale allover botanical lattice pattern spread across an ink blue field. The offset rows of naturalistic forms create a lovely diamond arrangement and somewhat resemble birds in flight. Additional small-scale motifs line the edges of the field, including vases, rosettes, S-shapes, diamonds, and eight-pointed stars. Diamonds and S-shapes are thought to protect against evil, while eight-pointed stars, sometimes called the Seal of the Prophets, represent spirituality. It is enclosed with a barber stripe border handsomely pulling together colors throughout into a unified, harmonious design. The guard borders display a rosette and curled leaf design that resemble small ram’s horns. Overall, the brighter geometric borders play off the deeper tones of the field and pull together this Lori Kurdish runner’s colors in a divine exhibition of Persian rug-making at its finest. This piece would be a magnificent addition to any interior.
