Based on traditional designs from the Caucasus region, this hand-knotted wool antique Russian Kazak runner features an array of latch hook medallions surrounded by eight-point stars and classic Caucasian motifs including a pair of animal motifs. Steep hooked pyramids reach from sides towards the center alternating between the latch hook medallions. From the center of the rug, a series of borders create a frame. The inner band consists of rosettes on a light brown background. The main border is composed of stylized rams horn and eight-point stars on an ivory background flanked with reciprocating crenelated fence motifs rendered in red and blue.
