This hand-knotted wool distressed antique Khotan gallery rug features two cusped medallions with an expanding multi-level cut-out field. Characterized by a simple and semi-symmetrical and geometric pattern, the two center medallions are surrounded by a variety of ambiguous symbols spread across an abrashed and weathered field. Each corner spandrel is filled with a rectilinear floral and rosette design. It is enclosed with a cartouche border flanked with inner and outer geometric meander guard borders. The antique-washed color palette centered entirely on neutral shades imbues the piece with a refined and subdued elegance.
