This hand-knotted wool Antique Turkish Oushak rug not only carries deep meaning woven within the piece, but it is also very similar to the Oushak rug is in a painting from 1876, 'Portrait of Dr. John Brinton' by Thomas Eakins. The Antique Turkish Oushak rug features five columns of Herati style medallions, serrated palmettes and amulets filled with diamonds and cruciform motifs in an alternating pattern on a vibrant red field. The red Oushak rug is enclosed with a rosette border flanked by subsidiary guard bands of ribbons and zigzag lines. Featuring rich waves of abrash, bold colors and an intricate geometric pattern, this gorgeous Antique Oushak rug is full of character and brings an artistic impact to complement traditional, modern and formal interiors.
